A load that exceeds what the elevator was designed for
Many warehouse owners install an elevator to residential specifications and then lift pallets or heavy goods on it. A residential motor is not rated for continuous duty, so it overheats and stops, and lightweight automatic doors distort from the first impact with a trolley. What sets the correct specification is the maximum expected load, not the number of floors alone.
