No pit, no solution?
A conventional elevator needs a lower pit beneath the ground-floor slab, and when the building sits on a solid foundation or a reinforced slab that cannot be broken, the situation can seem impossible. Many building owners do not realise that the pit depth required is set by the elevator system, not the elevator itself, and that switching to the right system solves the problem without touching the foundation.
